Hello! I am thrilled to be back at Liberty Center Elementary for my 4th year teaching 2nd grade.  I look forward to interacting with each child and the parents of each student.  Below I have an overview of my teaching style and philosophy as well a little bit about myself and my experiences.  



 

Overview:

I graduated from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. I have a Bachelar of Science in Education with an emphahsis on Early Childhood Education.  I also have my 4th and 5th Grade Generalist Endorsement in education.  

 

Teaching Philosophy:

My teaching style is interactive allowing for teach student interactions as well as peer to peer interactions. Students will experience hands on activities as a way to gain cognitive knowledge in the main content areas. Modeling will be a tool to teach in the content areas as well as teach social and emotional behaviors. The effectiveness of the strategies taught will be measured by formal and informal assessments. As an approach to develop problem solving skills, content will be taught in a manner that will be connected to real life situations.

Key Elements

Optimism: Not giving up on finding a solution and always being positive and encouraging

Dignity: Allowing the child to be corrected in the most respectful way not to hurt his or her self-esteem.

Democratic: Children are equal partners in the classroom. 

Creativity: Each student and situation needs a unique solution for it to work most effectively.

 

We will be using a clip chart where students are able to clip up for positive behaviors and clip down as a result of negative behavriors.  Students will carry the clip chart with them to Mrs. Masuwa's classroom.
